JAFST Journal Subscription Information
- The name of our journal is Japanese Journal of Forensic Science and Technology, and its abbreviation is Jpn. J. Forensic Sci. Tech.
- Our journal publishes original contributions pertaining to the forensic sciences as follows:
Articles Description Number of Pages Original Articles Research papers that report novel valuable facts or conclusions Around 12 pages Technical Notes Papers that report novel knowledges or results concerning to instruments, techniques, or analyticalmethods Around 8 pages Short Communications Reports of important novel knowledges that are worth while being published rapidly even though it is not complete Up to 4 pages Notes Reports of important novel knowledges that is worth while being published even though it is not complete Up to 4 pages Case Reports Reports of unique casework(s) that are worth while being published Around 8 pages Reviews Perspective exposition or report of important topics or matters in the field of forensic sciences. In principle, Review is submitted by the author who was requested by Editorial Board. Others Abstracts of the annual meetings, JAFST Bulletins, etc. - At least one of the authors should be a member of JAFST.
To be a member of JAFST, please proceed the following procedure:Step Procedure 1 Download the Admission Application Form from HERE (right click and select "save as"). 2 Fill in the downloaded form and send it to office@houkagaku.org via e-mail.

- Payment method: International Postal Money Order only

- Prepare your manuscripts and figures according to the Instructions for Authors, then send them to office@houkagaku.org via e-mail. Please inform us the software you used to prepare your manuscript and its version.
* We do not have an on-line submission system yet, and we are sorry for inconvenience. - The received day of the article is the day editorial board receives the manuscripts and figures.
- All the articles will be examined by more than two reviewers, then editorial board makes editorial decision. If your article is accepted, the day is the accepted day. If your article is not accepted, you will be informed by e-mail with reviewers' comments.
- In the event your manuscript is accepted for publication, the publisher requires a Copyright Transfer Agreement letter from you.
Please download the form of the Copyright Transfer Agreement from HERE (right click and select "save as"), fill in and send it to office@houkagaku.org via e-mail. - If necessary, the editorial board might make some addition, exclusion or modification on the expressions or other things in your article, or might request the author to do it.
- If your article is acceptable but reviewers point out some areas that merit your attention in revising your manuscript, you will be informed about them by e-mail. According to the subjects pointed out, please revice your manuscript, and send a new revision to office@houkagaku.org via e-mail within 50 days after receiving the mail.
After 50 days, your article will be treated as a new submission. - You are responsible for the first proofreading of your article for publication. PDF file for proofreading will be sent to you by e-mail. If there are any points to be corrected, please inform us as soon as possible. And please do not change the content of the manuscript largely without agreements of editorial board. After the second proofreading, editorial board will be responsible for proofreadings.
- After publication of your article, publication fee would be charged if your article is larger than the limits for free publication. The limits are as follows:

Case ReportsUp to 6 pages More than 6 pages Notes Up to 4 pages More than 4 pages - Reprints are free up to 50 copies. If you need more than 50 copies, reprint fees are claimed at 50 copy units. Fee estimate is informed at the first proofreading by editorial board.
- Fee for Short Communication is 7000 JPY/page.
- Fee for color printing is 30000 JPY/page.
- JAFST members receive 2 volumes and 1 supplement volume of the JAFST journal per year.
- Copyrights of the articles of the JAFST journal will be transferred to JAFST.
