JAFST Journal Subscription Information
- The name of our journal is Japanese Journal of Forensic Science and Technology (Jpn. J. Forensic Sci. Tech).
- Our journal publishes original contributions pertaining to the following forensic sciences :
Articles Description Number of Pages Original Articles Research papers that report novel valuable facts and/or conclusions Approximately 12 pages Technical Notes Papers that report novel knowledge or results concerning to instrument, techniques, or analytical methods Approximately 8 pages Short Communications Reports of important novel knowledge that are considered valuable to be published immediately although they are not complete Maximum 4 pages Notes Reports of important novel knowledge that are considered valuable to be published although they are not complete Maximum 4 pages Case Reports Reports of unique casework(s) that are valuable to be published Approximately 8 pages Reviews Perspective exposition or report of important topics or matters in the field of forensic sciences. In principle, the Review is submitted by the author who was recommended by the Editorial Board. Others Abstracts of the annual meetings, JAFST Bulletins, etc. - At least one of the authors should be a member of JAFST.
To be a member of JAFST, please complete the following procedure:
* If payment in Japanese Yen cannot be processed, please contact: office@houkagaku.org.Step Procedure 1 Download the Admission Application Form from HERE (right click and select "save as"). 2 Fill in the downloaded form and send it to office@houkagaku.org via e-mail.

- Payment method: International Postal Money Order only

- Prepare your manuscripts and figures according to the Instructions for Authors, then send them to office@houkagaku.org via e-mail. Please inform us the software you used to prepare your manuscript and its version.
* We do not have an on-line submission system yet, and apologize for the inconvenience. - The received day of the article is the date that the editorial board denotes acceptance of the manuscripts and figures.
- All the articles will be examined by more than two reviewers, followed by the editorial board’s decision. If your article is accepted, the day of receipt is the accepted day. If your article is not accepted, you will be informed by e-mail with the reviewers' comments.
- In the event your manuscript is accepted for publication, the publisher will require a Copyright Transfer Agreement letter from the author.
Please download the form of the Copyright Transfer Agreement from HERE (right click and select "save as"), complete it and send it to office@houkagaku.org via e-mail. - If necessary, the editorial board may make an addition, exclusion or modification on the expressions or other things in your article, or might request the author to do it.
- If your article is acceptable but the reviewers point out some areas that may be necessary in revising your manuscript, you will be informed by e-mail. Please revise your manuscript accordingly, and send the revised version to office@houkagaku.org via e-mail within 50 days after receipt of the e-mail.
After 50 days, your article will be treated as a NEW submission. - You are responsible for the first proofreading of your article for publication. A PDF file for proofreading will be sent to you by e-mail. If there are any points to be corrected, please inform us as soon as possible. Please do not change the content of the manuscript without consent of the editorial board. After the second proofreading, the editorial board will be responsible for any further proofreadings if deemed necessary.
- After publication of your article, a publication fee will be charged if the article exceeds the maximum limit for free publication. The limits are as follows:

Case ReportsMaximum 6 pages Over 6 pages Notes Maximum 4 pages Over 4 pages - Reprints are free up to 50 copies. If you need more than 50 copies, reprint fees are calculated per 50 copy units. This fee will be informed at the first proofreading by the editorial board.
- Fee for Short Communication is 7000 JPY/page.
- Fee for color printing is 30000 JPY/page.
- JAFST members receive 2 volumes and 1 supplement volume of the JAFST journal per year.
- Copyrights of the articles of the JAFST journal will be transferred to JAFST.
